"This decision is mostly political--part of the the ongoing campaign by the West to demonize Putin and Russia."

Absolutely no demons in Russia!

Tough one. Agree they should not all be banned, but then, what do you do?

I can see where they are coming from, but a violation of due process and the notion of individual responsibility in favor of collective punishment.

Liberal values of the world take a step back this day.

Right, and nobody in US is doping? Political bullshit again, I am sure they are afraid of Russian athletes or Russia didnt pay enough under table cash... the whole IAAF is rotten which was already proven..

Get rid of the drug cheats. No matter who they are, they should not be allowed to compete in the Olympics ... or any other sport for that matter ... if they juice up their bodies with super body-enhancing drugs & steroids. It's not fair for the honest ones ... and it's dangerous for the kiddies growing up who want to be sports players.

Read up on it. This wasn't a single athlete, nor was it a single coach connected to multiple athletes; this is how athletics is run in Russia. Group punishment is unprecedented, but then again, so is the string of Russian violations. Maybe they will learn.

It's one thing if these are isolated athletes cheating independently, then can just ban those athletes

But when it's the national system that's broken --the very people who are supposed to be doing the testing-- then ya can't trust the results, positive or negative, coming out of the system's tests

Sorry for the athletes who are truly clean, but who's fault is this - it's their national system who they should put blame. Russia didn't take care to keep their national system from getting corrupted
