Was the great white shark not on the staff or participants' list?
Anyway, I hope nothing untoward happens ... for the contestants and the shark.

What can they do?! The shark paid for its own spectator ticket!

The scene described by the reliable source sounds exactly as seen in Jaws.

This is where I type from. A hell of a lot of sharks here in the last few months. A very good incentive to sail safely and carefully....

I think the shark wants to help put the sailors back into their boats also. Just trying to help. Why do people think sharks just want to eat people! They have feelings.

Four-meter? These guys are scared of falling off their boat and getting eaten by a four-meter shark? That's pretty small for a great white, isn't it?
Here's a hint guys... if you capsize, swim back to your boat real fast. (I have swum through "shark-infested" waters at night to retrieve a dinghy - I don' t swim well but I think I might have broken a record that night)
