From the bits and pieces I saw of each game (the spouse hates baseball) the Ham-Eagles game was the much better of the two last night.
Looks like Nomura screwed up his pitching order and ran out too soon. After loading the bases, you could see Fukumori was gonna blow it.
Good dramatic end, though. Fighters basically need to just win 1 more game.

Nomura ran out his entire pen in the 8th, practically. Fukumori has been great the second half of the season, I'm surprised it was him who gave up the big blast.
Rakuten is throwing their two best tonight and tomorrow so there's still a good chance, but they really gotta be smarting over this one this morning.

Gotta admit, I switched off the TV in the 8th inning. Saw the replay on the news later...
That is a HUGE loss for Rakuten. They should have squared the series at 1-1 with their 2 knockout pitchers due up next. Even if Iwakuma and Tanaka both win, they'll still be at 2-2 instead of 3-1.
To think Fukumori was pitching in the majors not long ago...

Fukumori signed with the Texas Rangers at the end of 2007 but only had 4 games in the majors before being sent down to the minors.
I vaguely recall someting to the effect of Nomura not wanting to take him back because he didn't like him. Yesterday's performance certainly didn't endear him any more.

Stupid 1 game advantage thing is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of in sports.
