Korea was actually leading the medal count for a short while there. Good on 'em. They continue to dominate in the short track.

I was watching this and thinking that the Koreans had a great shot at sweeping the medal podium ... then the crashed happened. It opened the door for an American two-three finish. I bet words were exchanged between Sung Si-bak and Lee Ho-suk after that crash. Anyway, it was a very exciting race.

Koreans are the best in this sport. They should win all the medals if judges do not interfere like in the case of the american Ono who was given a medal at the expence of a korean skater a few years back.

Lee Jung-su of South Korea won the gold medal Saturday night in the Olympic short-track 1,500-meter speedskating final and Apolo Anton Ohno took silver to equal Bonnie Blair as the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian.

Now Koreans will have a big celebration because this same Apolo Ohno stole their medals I think in Salt Lake Olympic.

Love: The medal was taken from South Korea and given to Ohno on a very poor decision by the judges. You're right in a sense that this gives them a little bit of a victory, but it was well earned, and once again Ohno gets another medal after two Koreans fall in a crash (not earned).

Sweeping the medals would have been a much sweeter victory.

I love this sport because of the crashes. It is so spectacular. If I am reborn I will practise this sport. I liked Ohno until the moment he took the medal without deserving it but i will admit he is a good skater.

Here the Koreans did the mistake by themselves so everythnig is fair. Not like in Salt Lake city.

C'mon, one of the key elements in this sport is the ability to stay upright, and full credit to this Ohno kid, that's what he managed to do. His feats are unprecedented.

Lets be honest though : what these speed-skating events need is another Steven Bradbury underdog type (Aussie) to shock the world and grab gold. Otherwise, it's looking like a bit of a yawnfest!

Yeah, no kidding. And at least they still captured the gold. If it were Lee Jung-Su who wiped out and took out his other two country-men, that would have been a pretty bitter defeat. Still is for the two who wiped out, but as you said they did it to themselves.

Yes and no. Ohno's no slacker, so me suggesting it was undeserved is incorrect (I was referring to the last time he got the gold off the Korean skater), but there are indeed cases in which everyone falls but the last person and in some of those cases you can say it was luck more than anything else. I think it was a Japanese team in the last winter Olympics that got through to the next round because the top three teams knocked each other out in the final lap... they were more surprised than anyone else.

Anyway, I like speed skating. Very graceful (flops excluded), but intense.

I'd like to say that it is time to let go of 2002, but I still can't get out of my mind the incredibly poor sportsmanship of the Korean skater who was disqualified from gold. He kicked a couple of blocks across the ice and threw the Korean flag to the ground. What did mamma teach him.

Meanwhile, in women's short track, Yang Yang A won China's first Winter gold and -with tears- did her nation proud.

Personally, never one to delight in the misfortunes of others but, I really enjoyed watching the two Koreans take themselves out of the race and off the medals podium for exactly this reason-

-"Koreans are the best in this sport. They should win all the medals if judges do not interfere"

-"Apolo Ohno stole their medals I think in Salt Lake Olympic"

-"I liked Ohno until the moment he took the medal without deserving it"

The decision at Salt Lake was fair and just, plain and simple ! Congrats to the two Americans for their performances where the real work was done in the preliminary rounds- what a great race ! It could be argued that the Koreans got greedy resulting in the two crashing into each other- I won't say that ! I think it was great that they pushed each other right to the final turn !

Saw this in the news and thought it was hilarious:

Wow, a bit of a rivalry between Korea and China brewing. It has the Korean coach throwing water bottles at the Chinese team. Seems to be that the Korean coach was upset at Chinese officials videotaping their practices (which is actually legal).

I disagree with those of you who think that Apolo Ohno didn't deserve the silver medal. That's what happens in short track speed skating, it's never over until it's over. There's two different videos from different angles going around the web showing what had happened. The camera number 1 shows them head on and you see only Apolo's hand touch the Korean. If you watch the other video, from camera 2 you will see that one of the korean team members put his hand up first to block ohno from getting ahead of him. Apolo almost lost his balance and of course when you that happens your arms flail around and you will see them grabbing each other after that. I'm just saying that he deserved his medal no matter how you look at it.
