Sounds like a fairly good result considering their preparation for the season. May be a long painful season though. I just hope they can keep support as they build toward next year. A competitive Sunwolves will be very good for Japanese rugby.

I think it was a decent first match for the wolves although they were a bit naïve and inhibited in the first half (and probably impressed). Also felt the ref gave most of the 50/50 decisions to the Lions (Pisi's yellow was a tough one) something they will have to deal with all season am afraid.
They struggled at scrumtime but have to say the Lions have had one of the best scrum in SR of the last couple of years so nothing really alarming there I think. They just have to play the fast tempo that suits them, that's imo the only way they can exist at this level. Great crowd.

Yes - a pretty good effort, taking all into account - the opposition, the newness, the nerves etc etc. Plenty of teams would have been blown away. Only saw some highlights though. Hoping to catch a few full games.
And I like the name - Sun Wolves - got some fight & grit.
Pity someone can't scratch the eyes out of the national team name. The Brave Blossoms!!! Sounds like ikebana on a windy day, hardly befitting an international rugby team.

Great to see a good crowd there. I've been to a lot of games there, and even for the National team there were empty seats.
A good fighting effort from the Sunwolves but looks like it could be a long season for them.
