Why, so some Japanese can claim their culture is being attacked and only sports Japan is good in are being taken away? Besides, wrestling is a summer Olympic event (was), not winter, and snowboarding is in no danger of being taken off the list.
Anyway, good on Takanashi. It sounds like there is going to be some good competition in snowboarding by the time Sochi rolls around. Should be fun.

Isn't this kid great!! Only 16 ... and she's already on top of her sport. Watching competition in other skiing events, there are a lot of young people ... all in their teens ... making names for themselves. What happened to the oldsters ... burned out ... or are the young ones really that good? Hope Takanashi-san flies high & long at the Sochi Olympics next year ...

Sounds a lot like a certain country on the other side of the Pacific...

This young lady and some other Japanese stand a really good chance of getting Japan the medals they feel entitled to if said athletes can keep it up. Better than that, though, it's great to see that the sport is not dominated by any one nation and there's real competition for a change. Bring along the Japanese skaters and ski jumpers among others and Japan's really got a good chance and getting more medals this time around.

Bravo to this kid - she has no fear that's for sure! I reckon she sets an example to most of her male teenage peers about "manning up" and having a go!

At the ripe old age of 16 this young lady may be on top of the Ski jumping world for a while! Impressive stuff!
