OSAKA —
Japanese hurdler Dai Tamesue and pole vaulter Daichi Sawano will miss this weekend’s Grand Prix meet in Osaka because of injury, the Japan Association of Athletics Federations said Thursday.
Tamesue, who had been scheduled to run in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, cited a hamstring injury, while Sawano has inflammation in his left knee, according to the JAAF. High jumper Donald Thomas of the Bahamas, winner at last year’s world championships in Osaka, and American 400-meter hurdler James Carter are among the notable foreign athletes who have pulled out of Saturday’s event at Nagai Stadium.
