I wonder how much he's making per pitch. Any idea readers?

I was watcgibg Angels VS Mariner game until rain stopped the game ( TV.) Before that, the announcers mentioned Yankees and Tanaka. Then joked Tanaka Time.

I hope the best for Tanaka, but in the majors any new pitcher is not truly tested until his second time around the league. If the hitters cannot solve him by then, he will be accepted as a big time talent.

sensei 258,

For regular season only he will make about $6,300 per pitch assuming average of 32 starts/year and 110 pitches/start.

For his debut he looked fine. Only the first hit, a mistake pitch (when he was ahead on the count) over the plate was legitimate hit. The second hit was one of those lucky hits when the batter is fooled and he manages to just make contact.

@ratbat: Kind of hard to figure, many batter fauls balls so many times. But you explained well. Yamkee won and Angels and mariners were keen to today's Tanaka performance. Iwakuma is not ready but Mariner batters were very good. So, I guess Boston is nervous now.

Today is Sunday and so I hope I can watch their game but too early for us West side MLB fans, Too bad Angles did not want him, Pitchers crmnbled against Mariners. Hope JT sport board will report result of MLB Spring games instead of still showing Olympic stories comments intact.

His "go to" pitch is a straight fast ball that he throws with a violent technique. He even threw a couple of wild pitches in those two innings.

Since he had to ice his shoulder after just two innings, that throwing technique (and his career) may not last long in the major league.

@sarnname: Florida is very hot now. Haven;t you noticed pitchers place ice pack on their necks surrounging after they come back to dugouts? Especially in Southern States, When potchers come back to dugout, at least one TV camera follpw. Florida is hotter than other Southern States fields.
