Tokyo Marathon 2013 invites Hurricane Sandy charity runners

Tokyo Marathon 2013 has launched a special emergency relief campaign to support the recovery of New York City which was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy on Oct 29. This fundraising campaign aims to show Tokyo Marathon’s support toward the New York City Marathon, which was cancelled this year due to the destruction.
Among individuals donating 100,000 yen or more, those who wish to participate in the marathon can run as charity runners (full marathon only: up to 3,000 runners on a first-come, first-served basis).
All donations will go toward relief efforts for victims through the American Red Cross.

Donation due date: 5 p.m. Nov 30 for those who apply through KNT Tokyo Marathon Entry Desk (E-mail: tm2013@or.knt.co.jp). 5 p.m. Dec 16 for those who apply through Tokyo Marathon

Nice idea, for sure, but who is to guarantee the Red Cross will spend it on what people think it is going for????
