Tokyo totally deserves it regardless of the naysayers and their incessant "japan human rights violators" malarkey nonsense. Japan put on a wondrous event back in 1964, it is more than enough time for them to hose it again and show the world how to put on a prim and proper Olympics the whole world can enjoy. Peace.

If Obama gets elected, Chicago will be the best choice.

We'll see how THIS year's Olympics go first.

I tend to agree with rjd_jr, but think Japan shouldn't be spending money on things it doesn't need and I think that eight years is too short a time for the continent to be having another Olympics.

I would love to see Tokyo have the Olympics because I live here, but all of the money being spent on things that will rarely be used again is a total waste.

I do think that Japan would be a great host, but the ego of Ishihara is just such a turn off that I hope the bid fails and his "legacy" along with it...

    Go Shintaro!

Can't see it ending up anywhere other than Chicago (I am not American). I would love to see it going somewher new like Rio but just can't see it happening.

If it does come here there is one place I can assure you I will not be that month - here! Why do you think I left London...

2008 Beijing 2016 Tokyo highly unlikely

The IOC is just puttinf Jpn up on the pedestal so it can have a bit of limelight she always is craving. When decision time comes it wont be Tokyo

I agree with GW. It won't come to Japan, especially with Ishihara as mayor of Tokyo, he projects such a poor image for the city. The IOC comments are just putting up a 'stalking horse'.

Depends on the Obama card; probably Chicago but otherwise the balance of the IOC would favour Rio being the choice

    Olympic bid phase three:-

Remove prison from the top of the Central Immigration Office in Shinagawa which houses convicts guilty of crimes of immigration.

    Where the hell is Baku?

Oh, right, it's the capital of Azerbaijan.

    Where the hell is Azerbaijan?

2008 Beijing 2016 Tokyo highly unlikely

One could have said the same about London - 2004 Athens 2012 London - highly unlikely but it wasn't. More of an issue being it will have been 20 years since it was last in the US so if it is not in 2016 that will be 5 consecutive games out of one of the biggest markets time zone.

Not that I particularly care - just being realistic

Will be hilarious to see Ishihara try to run the Tokyo Olympic torch through China, South Korea and North Korea.

  • daftpunk1976 at 12:51 AM JST - 6th June

Tokyo sould win the host of 2016!
