The Chicago presentation went 15 minutes over. Typical Americans, always taking up too much of others peoples time talking about themselves (and they don`t even get that right sometimes).

I dont see why Tokyo shouldnt be in the running, especially if London could get the nod.

FryingMonkey -- apparently you have not kept up to date on this issue. Only about 60% of the J-folks support having the Olympics in Tokyo. So there'll be a lot of folks moving. Any suggestions on where they should all go?

And, realist, please explain what was wrong with the '84 LA Games?

I hope Tokyo gets it... maybe it will teach Japan what it means to be truly international. Aichi Expo was a joke because most visitors were domestic, however, the Olympics should bring way more international guests to Japan.

Tahoochi: A 2 week of sports events will never change a hundred of years isolation from the world culture of Japan, In fact Holding the Olympics here might make it worse, Ishihara might say JAPAN handles it in Japanese way!!!! and Japanese way is always great!!!! Olympics is not the solution for internationalizing this country, the old leaders and old philosophies of Japan (not only from the government, but as a whole, even on small groups ) and its never ending rules should be changed, change it with an open minded, practical and more modern way of thinking ...

I hope it's Tokyo, if anything US shouldn't do it's to organize any event, they can't organize any event, the 1996 olympics and 1994 worldcup they held were boring. Not mentioning the scandal ridden Salt Lake 2002 winter olympics.

moshiso7 - "the 1996 olympics and 1994 worldcup they held were boring"

I can understand the World Cup being boring, but the Olympics?

  • rajakumar at 11:46 PM JST - 18th June

About only 100 something days to go to decide 2016 host.

So tokyo, madrid, rio and chicago better get busy, to sway the votes of only 107 IOC members of International Olympic committe.

Which ever nation host the games, their economy will be in for a boost, the way it did ,for China in 2008 games.

  • amerijap at 03:47 AM JST - 19th June

Personally, I want to see the Olympics in Rio.

  • noypikantoku at 01:00 PM JST - 19th June

i think RIO should have it, it will also help RIO's economy! unlike Japan these guys have everything already...Ishihara should focus on other sensible issues! See Moshiso's opinion, that's one of the reasons why I hate to do it here, they have this thinking that , we are the only country that make evreything perfect, it's Olympics! what matters are the games , so it means if a soccer game , same teams , same players, will change the way of the game if they're in other country??? and will become boring???? I don't think so.

  • noypikantoku at 01:05 PM JST - 19th June

What is the main reason why Tokyo wants to host the Olympics? is it to embrace the camarraderrie and unity of all countries in their own land? or to have more money and show the world that WE JAPANESE can do it better and can host Olympics better than other countries! if Ishihara is not behind this bid , I might not think this way!...but look at the supporters...

Why games will be hosted by tokyo?

To promote unity of all nations via sport in tokyo and to show japan can do it better. Good reasons.

Why games will be hosted by rio,Brazil?

Because it will help brazil economy unlike tokyo which is already centre of 2nd biggest economy.

Why games will be hosted by Madrid,Spain?

It is time for spanish to host and also their world cup football team is ranked 1st by FIFA.

Why games will be hosted by Chicago,USA?

It will help USA economy and global economy go up,as USA is world's number 1 economy. President Obama has a lot of clout globally,to push for games in Chicago.

    107 IOC member finally decide?

It is these 107 member, and what they favour that matters,in being the game host in 2016.

The news media reporting and publicity in media, can help sway their opinion,on final voting day(2-10-2009).

If will be very interesting campaign by all 4 cities, which will be won by the best city which offers the most in 2016.

noypikantoku, I'm not japanese first of all, and I'm hoping it's Tokyo because I'm pretty curious what Japan is really capable of since it's been long time since they don't host an olympic, also I'm pretty curious about the latest technology they'll show, and everybody want to see these things specially from Japan. And Rio is too dangerous for tourists.

  • noypikantoku at 02:56 PM JST - 23rd June

moshiso7: Do you live in Tokyo??? do you know how Ishihara (the mayor of Tokyo and pushing the Tokyo bid) thinks about foreigners here!? and he's the only guy who will benefit for this! he and his businesses, and it should not be tolerated! What's the purpose of those "latest technology" another decieving and un-true images about Japan??? saying to the whole world that they have advance technologies but the real thing is like everything is so slow here...I think if Japan doesnt get the bid, I hope this will give them a lesson that they need to be more "INTERNATIONALIZE" i think Tourists will also have a hard time here in Tokyo since its a non foriegn friendly city, everything is expensive especially now that yen is expensive, un friendly taxi drivers and confusing train lines (for foreign tousrists) . they should make their city internationalized first before thinking to host a major international event...
