Congrats to Tomic, and tough luck for Nishikori. You win some, you lose some. Hopefully this is not an indicator of what's to come for the year, especially given what some posters have already said he will accomplish.
Mocheake
Nishikori is a very good player, not a great one. The sooner Japanese realize this, the better. Unrealistic to think he is in the same league as the Big Four.

What have some posters been saying smithinjapan?
Mocheake, djokovic wasn't always in Federer and Nadals league, until he was. Same for Murray.
Nishikori wasn't seeded 2nd here by fluke.

Haters will hate ! C'mon Kei-san ! Get in shape for the Open in Melbourne !
wtfjapan
@smith who said anything about hating on Kei, just realistic, he presently doesnt have the mental toughness to win the big tournaments, have seen it time and again and recently with Federer, who was far from his best but when the big points count he cracks under the pressure. he will make the finals at the majors but when it comes to the business end he wont match the top 4. not hating just stating a obvious fact. He needs to get aggressive and go for the kill taking the risky shots when they count. the big 4 do time and again Kei plays it too safe when the pressures on. Oh and his second serve is average at best.

@kuro yes i know, sorry smith

Wtfjapan: you've got me wrong; I was pointing out the media and players who at the end of December were saying, yet again, this is going to be "Nishikori's year", when you, I and others said they should not jump the gun AGAIN. On the contrary, for stating the same facts as you do I'm called a hater so that those who inflate Nishikori's skill and ability won't have to admit he's not doing as they bet (pride of otherwise) he would be doing.
Kurobune: "get in shape for Melbourne!"
So you admit he's not in shape. If those stating the facts are haters, that makes you the same.

Well done, Bernie! Lets hope the kid realises his amazing potential this season - and keeps his trap shut for once.

"Yet again"? Since such talk is apparently so prevalent, it should be easy for you to provide at least one quote to back up your own assertion. So go on, show us such a quote?
It seems to me you keep imagining media and people are saying stuff that they aren't saying.
He's got the skill, ability AND results commensurate to be ranked in the world top 10, so there is not a lot of inflating that can actually be done.
Why it gets on your nerves that Nishikori is in the top 10 and has the ability to win matches, is beyond me. But that is the reason you are regarded as a hater.
