Congrats to the DR. South Korea still retains the gold medal in baseball, but these guys are now the champs as far as the WBC goes. And for once a team wins that is unbeaten. Good job to PR as well.

This game gave new meaning to the idea of a Caribbean championship.

exactly, WBC redefined, basball is more than a bunt game, a short message to former champions !

A big congrats to the Dominicans! A thumbs down to the, once again, under-represented US team. Good run and showing for Japan - it might be healthy for the tournament not to have one team dominate for too long.

I think moving this tournament to November is a good idea. The US and Japan will have finished their respective championships and the players will still be in good shape and form from the just ending season. Injuries wouldn't be such a looming worry either as it wouldn't occur right before the season begins.

Congratulations to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Also to Japan and the Netherlands.

South Korea still retains the gold medal in baseball

Ah,ha,ha,ha! Those Koreans certainly have a knack for remembering ancient history and dragging it back up years later. Where did they finish in this years WBC...??

? The Dominican Republic are the champions period. The Koreans are not on the same planet as them.

Was watching this game during March Madness commercial breaks. Given Japan's love affair for baseball I'm sure they broadcast this game live over there. Congrats to DR.

Some14some, you think the Dominican team didn't bunt? You obviously didn't watch the game.

Romeo - the games were broadcast live here - BUT unfortunately the final was NOT broadcast in my prefecture. It was written in the weekly tv schedule but mysteriously disappeared from yesterdays tv guide. One can only guess that it followed the line, "Yes it may well be the world championship, but Japan's not playing". Pretty damn weak.

    browny: No surprise, really.

browny, what prefecture was that? I live in Tokyo and I caught the score / highlights on the 11 o'clock news.

DR was simply on a mission after two dissapointing tournaments. And who in the right mind would bring Korea to this article? Their media and players are again blaming the food, weather, format, motivation, and whatever they can come up with later for their failure.
