Urawa Reds overcame the early loss of Keita Suzuki to finally stop the rot with a comfortable 3-0 defeat of Albirex Niigata in the J-League first division on Sunday. Takahito Soma opened the scoring just before halftime and defender-turned-midfielder Marcus Tulio Tanaka added the second before Yuichiro Nagai completed the Reds’ first win of the season and first under new boss Gert Engels.
In other games, Kashima Antlers edged Yokohama F Marinos 2-1, Gamba Osaka downed Tokyo Verdy 2-1, Kawasaki Frontale beat Chiba 2-0, FC Tokyo drew 3-3 with Kyoto Sanga, Consadole Sapporo beat Kashiwa Reysol 2-1, Shimizu S-Pulse drew 0-0 with Omiya Ardija and FC Tokyo and Kyoto Sanga drew 3-3.
