With the greatest of respect to Wales - If they could put 80 on Namibia - imagine what the Kiwis would have done. Probably a thousand! Perhaps the IRB should look at reducing the world cup to 16 teams - having mobs like Namibia in there is plain embarassing!

I thought 81-7 was bad, but then I see that Nambia lost to S. Africa 87-0.
There is something seriously wrong when a sports team loses 87-0 to another sports team.

England and New Zealand both put triple figures past Romania and Japan in the past and this time the results have been much improved. The difference between the top and the bottom is much closer than it was and if you start playing with only the top teams then you may as well just call it the 10 nations and be done with the 'World' cup.

No it isn't...its as wide as ever, don't let the math fool you...you get beaten by 80 you belong somewhere else UNTIL you show significant, QUALITATIVE improvement.

Once you get over about 70 points, it doesn't really come down to the opposition; it's more of whether the team who's winning can be bothered any more or just want to save themselves from injury.
It may as well be the 10 nation World Cup, and even that would be stretching it with who actually has a chance of winning it.

With the limited number of true quality teams that play rugby on an international level is it even right to call it a "World Cup" in the first place?
What's in a name?
Calling it the World Cup somehow brings the impression or expectation of excellence that the "other" WC, soccer that is, has and brings to the world stage.
When any team that qualifies, and gets beat by such lopsided scores I might add, it takes away from the excitement and anticipation that sports matches should bring to the international stage.
Kudos to Nambia for sticking it out, but maybe they shouldnt have been there in the first place as their level of play and ability is not quite ready for the "World" stage, and for that matter maybe neither is Japan as well.
