Excellent news. Great player, and shows respect for his opponents.

Respect? He did a choker head lock with twist on Japan's captain Michael Leitch in a super rugby game just last month. That earned him a three game suspension. Leitch was tapping out and PoCOCK still kept at it. Good player but fragile emotionally.

Great player and great guy. Renowned in oz for his political activism. So J ppl if you have a good cause and need an ambassador pocock is your man.

And no swearing on the pitch (of course)

Hooray! Forget about promoting local players, let's get another big name, don't push the body too much, pay a truckload of cash and see him off in 3 years! Sonny Bill Williams must have been laughing all the way to the bank! 1 season of sitting in the bleachers...David Pocock early retirement package, maybe he'll get two if he goes to France..

Slightly harsh there, Lunar. Mr Pocock does not seem majorly motivated by money - he has a social conscience, which is almost unheard of for a professional athlete. Been arrested back home for environmental causes a few times, for example. Refuses to marry his girlfriend until gay marriage is legal, in a show of solidarity for his LGBTI friends. Not your usual sportsperson.

Coming to Japan is likely all about the experience and his personal journey - I doubt money is his major factor.

He actually went up and thanked Owens, after the world cup final which he - with the Wallabies - lost. He also acknowledges the qualities of the other teams he faces on social media. So yes, I would say he shows respect.
