    Well he sure as well won't be fighting anyone who's highly ranked.

    Let me guess. In Japan, right?

    Boxing in a nutshell. Joke sport.

    The Kamedas are true champions and deserving of the international praise that they receive. They are reinventing the sport of boxing with their exciting, humble new style!

    @Speed

    Of course they will fight in Japan. I have said this 15 million times that is so obvious to anyone with tiny big of common sense. Which country do you think they should choose to make more money, Indonesia or Japan ?

    If you have any logic left in your brain, the answer should be obvious.

    This is laughable even by Kamada's standards. A guy who is 24 and 10!!!!! But, given how starved Japan is for sports heroes, the public will eat it up anyway.

  • 1

    timeon

    as much as I don't like Kameda, I don't think any of you guys actually bothered to read the article. It states there clearly that he is unhappy with the lower ranked opponent, but Ruiz had another fight arranged and they plan the next fight with him

    Kameda is a street thug from a whole family of street thugs. It would be so funny if he lost to a 12th ranked boxer. Make him eat humble pie

  • 1

    cubic

    @Hide - anyone with common sense would also see that this is an absolute joke of a match. Surely there are other opponents in his division apart from Ruiz? Then again, his management probably saw how his brother got owned by a middle-tier opponent a few months ago and lined up another can.

    cubic - It could also mean that Ruiz doesn't want to waste his time against Kameda, who everyone knows inflates his win loss record by fighing tomato cans. Not to mention fighting every fight in the friendly confines of Osaka and in front of judges well taken care of.

    If the money was right and the timing and other details could be worked out, Ruiz probably wouldn't mind wasting his time.

    I agree, it is a joke. I always say this, the Kameda family is good at marketing, not boxing. If you bring a real opponent, he might lose :) A bunch of Japanese people are willing to pay to see his fights no matter what so this is a good business, nothing more.

    Hope we see an upset and Kameda gets laid out on his skinny frame. Be worth watching then and would even pay good money to this dick get a hiding.

    No,disagree with Hide..Koki Kameda is a very good,tough boxer...made a few poor decisions stinking up his character but he's got tons of grit...why not have a warm up ?

    EXACTLY! And I bet you this fight will take place in Japan, right?

    timeon -- wrong, we read it. We are just got as gullible as you to believe anything that comes out of Kamada's mouth, or his PR machine. This is a "made for TV event", not a true boxing match, plain and simple. But I will gladly eat my words the day Kamada agrees to fight the #1 contender in his weight class, or even one stepping up in class -- outside of Japan. Then, and only then, will he become a true world champion, and not a Japanese pretender.

    Boxers aim to make money and if Japan is the best place to do it, why not ? US fighters fight in the US too so stop being ridiculous with this argument.

  • -1

    hoserfella

    Clement Delestrade - Boxers fight in the States because like it or not, thats where the big fights are and where the best boxers from around the world go. Manny Pacquiao doesn't cower in Manila fighting 12th ranked opponants, does he? He goes to Vegas to fight the best.

  • 1

    jforce

    Sad to say ... Boxing is a dead sport. It was destroyed by the corrupt promoters and lack of true fan-favourite fights. Name 3 big boxers? The UFC is now and is the future and is truly fan-friendly, and the fighters even fight more than once in the same year! A boxer? You're lucky if they fight once every 2 years. Agree with @cubic. Yet, although boxers are great athletes they are hindered by the boxing commissions and lack of unity in organizations. It has become a joke-sport, indeed.

    @hoserfella

    Pacquiao fights in the US because that's where he can make most money, way more money than he could in philippine.
    American people aren't gonna pay money to see Kameda fights an Indonesian guy, so he can make more money in Japan.

    Can you really not undersand this simple business decision ?

    And Nishioka went to Vegas and won against a decent opponent last year, there was no comment on JT, LOL

    Too many grumpy posters going through articles, looking for things to complain anything about Japan.

    @jforce,

    I aggree MMA is the now and future. Boxing has too much corruption, taking too long to make one fight happen (Manny vs Mayweather).

  • -1

    hoserfella

    Pacquiano fights in the US not just because it's where he gets the money, but because he wants to fight the best opponents out there which he has done. He has nothing to prove to anyone unlike Kameda, who like I mentioned before, only fights bums in Japan. Kameda has everything to prove.

    BurakuminDes

    Kameda is the Anthony Mundine of Japan. The Aussies here will know who I'm talking about. Mundine has talked himself up for years as "one of the best pound-for-pound in the world"; "triple world champ"; "gonna fight soon in America when the deal comes through" etc etc. And in the end they both end up fighting Thai taxi-drivers and assorted duds. The sad thing is they are both very, very talented but do not have the bollocks to challenge for the big time in The States - they can make their comfortable fortune in Australia and Japan. I guess when you are risking permanent brain damage I can't begrudge them that!

    @hoserfella

    "because he wants to fight the best opponents "

    Wrong, he is Pacquiao, if he said he wants to fight in the Philippine, then the promoters will make it happen. He has fought non-american fighters in America, why ? To make more money,

    Tough opponents will be tough opponents even if they fight in the Philippine But they fight in the US to make more money.

    Again I don't know why you can't understand this simple concept.

  • 0

    hoserfella

    Hide - how many "tough" fighters have made their way to Japan for the pleasure of a big cash fight with Kameda? That's right. ZERO. The only concept I don't understand is why you defend this guy when it's clear he's scared of fighting quality opponents.

  • 1

    Yubaru

    People take it for what it is, you pay to go to the movies to be entertained, kids watch cartoons or anime on TV to laugh, all you have to keep in mind is that Kameda is a cross between and actor and a comedian looking to get your money like any other charlatan. If one keeps all that in mind you can sit back, eat your popcorn and enjoy the show!,

  • -1

    calm down

    If Koki's number 1,how many 'tough' fighters do you really think are below him ?There are no Nth Americans ranked in the top 10,it's all about money so a bantanweight fight between Kameda and a Mexican would probably only manage an undercard over there..He said he'll fight Ruiz next,he wasnt the one who didnt want to fight -it was Ruiz

  • -3

    Hide Suzuki

    @hoserfella,

    When did I defend this guy ? Check out my second post on this article, he is good at marketing, not boxing. I dislike the Kameda family as much as anybody on this board but there is nothing wrong with him fighting mostly or only in Japan. He wouldn't be a big draw in America or China, so Japan is the biggest market for him (and only market really).

    @yubaru, Totally agreed. If anybody wants to watch legitimate Japanese boxers, then there are others who don't even get half of media coverage that the Kameda gets, like Hasegawa, or Nishioka. They are no Manny Paquiao but they are better than the Kameda brothers.

    He is doing his best ( Gambaree...)

    Clément Delestrade

    lol at people thinking Pacquiao fights in the US primary because the big fights are there. It's primary because the big money is there. What about that big fight everybody is dying to see but which will never happen because both fighters want the biggest part of the money ?

  • 1

    irishosaru

    Here we go again - an article about a Japanese boxer brings out people who know nothing whatsoever about the sport, and who think there's something stupid or unfair about Kameda fighting in Japan.

    It's all about money and nothing else. Kameda can make more money fighting no-hopers in Japan than anywhere else, so he does. The day he can make more money fighting no-hopers overseas, he will do that.

    And he, just like virtually every other boxer out there, will continue to fight no-hopers as long as he's allowed to get away with it.

    And about this idea that America is where the big fights are - that is because that is where the money is. It's easier to make money from american TV compainies than anywhere else. And the day that promoters can make more money from TV companies in another country, they will go there.

    The very reason the big fights went to Vegas was because it was easier to make money there because of TV blackout rules in bigger cities like NY.

    I'm waiting for someone to do a job on Koki's face like Koki did on Naito's face.
