"Wescott hurt his knee and shoulder at an event two months ago and came to the Olympics admittedly not riding his best."
-straight from the sofa to the top of the podium with maybe a trip to McDonald's in between. Sounds a bit like Shaun Palmer the original OG of BoarderX.

Too bad there's only two snowboard cross events at the Olympics. Very entertaining to watch

Agree! Great fun to watch. Almost as fun as seeing the mogulers wipe out.

Wow- the americans are out of the box early and often- already with 8 medals and we are only into the third day of competition ! Great result for Wescott and a huge bronze medal surprise from Bode "where's the party" Miller ! Boy I can't tell you how enjoyable the Olympics are to be A) winning ! and B) seeing them here in the USA- great coverage of all the events and athletes- not just the US team. The Japanese wife is confused by this- kept asking me who the American favorites were in the Biathlon 10K sprint yesterday- I told her there isn't one, the Americans have never finished better than 18th ! She then asked, "so why is it on TV" ? I said "this is America dear- get used to it" ! can't wait for Canada/Switz womens hockey tonight- that'll blow her away for sure ! watching "Canada" ? Nah- rooting for the Swiss Miss !

@ HumbledCat, I totally agree with you. The snowboardcross is one of the more exciting events. Short-track speed skating is also very entertaining.

Love snowboardcross too. It was a great race and congrats to Seth. Saw it on NHK live (I had to get up really early though for it). The thing with this race is, that anything can happen, and even if you are behind you can win it. I remember in the last Olympics in the women's event when Jacobellis was nearing the win, but fluffed it on a showboat move. Can't wait for the women's snowboard cross tomorrow.

"Can't wait for the women's snowboard cross tomorrow."
I agree ! All eyes are on "Lindsey Jacobellis" from the US- most notably known as the young lady who was leading the final race in Torino and fell on her tush with 140 feet to go after trying a "method grab" coming off the last jump. She is such a cutie and a real breath of fresh air- I hope she does another method grab and takes the gold !
