These are huge losses for the Tigers. Atchison was a very dependable reliever for the club, and every baseball fan knows Williams' track record in Japan for the past several years.
This isn't to say that Williams could not sign in the middle of next season before the roster deadline with the hope of pitching late in the year if his shoulder is healthy, but it looks doubtful.
The team will really have to do its homework and find some solid foreign pitchers and hope they can adjust to the game and life in Japan.
Tigers fire Williams and Atchison Fires Tigers, fair play. The actual problem lies with J-pitchers like Kubota and requires full review of the team including the posting of Manager Mayumi.
Are you kidding? Atchinson was a horrible pitcher. It wasn't until the end of this season Atchinson didn't cost Hanshin their games. I never saw him do anything worth keeping him for. I'm glad to see him gone but I wish they would have spent all their money on some new pitchers instead of aging Jojima.
