How low can the talent pool in Japan sink? The Yakult Swallows are going to use a foreign infielder for the rest of the season who could not even perform well enough to keep a job in Korea. NPB is really going down the toilet, and it cannot just be blamed on a handful of top former NPB starts who are plying their trade in the majors in recent years.

What is it? Too few young males? Too many of them choosing soccer over baseball in the past decade or so? Whatever it is, the quality of play in NPB was easily better 5-10 years ago.

Anyway, good luck, Wilson Valdez. Glad you could get a couple hundred thousand dollars from a Japanese company to play the game of baseball for a few months.

Wilson Valdez! He had a cult following with the Mariners a few years back!
