I hope they both lose. Go Phillies! Go Ham Fighters!
sappquest at 07:10 PM JST - 26th October
It shouldn't be called the world series, it should be the 'National Series' or the 'USA Series'.
Even 'American Series' is not acceptable because the Americas include South America, Central America and the Caribbean, of which other baseball countries are a part, especially Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

The game was invented in the United States and features players from countries all across the globe. Let's not get all politically correct about. Oh, and GO YANKEES!!!

@sappquest:
A bit of history for you. The first series between Americam League champions and National League champions was sponsored by a news paper call "The World" from which it got it's name. Incidently, the second year the series was to be held, the National League champs declined to participate. Now there are players from 62 contries in Major League baseball, far more than in any other organized league in the world.

@terebiko: I'm with you! This will be a banner year for the Fighters and the Fightin' Phils!
anderstungtwist at 04:51 AM JST - 27th October
No kidding, gimp.
National Series? Who's going to get excited about that?
USA series? "World" is much bigger. It's like Dr. Evil saying "A million dollars!". It just sounds BIG! and IMPORTANT!
The main thing: Everyone is welcome to play, not just natives plus two foreigners per team like some countries (cough, cough).

Depends upon your education, if your from Latin america or from spain, iran, or Portugal then yes america is a continent but if you are from pretty much everywhere else it means USA

techall at 03:30 PM JST - 27th October
@biengo:
Maybe so, but my source was the PBS series "Baseball".
