This guy is no Derek Jetter; $2.5M is a fair wage for an average player. The WBC (aka the pro wrestling of baseball) is no indication how he would do in a real game. Luckily the Yankees have returned to sanity by placing a low-ball bid on Darvish and playing hardball negotiations with Nakajima.

Nakajima is smart to snub the Yankees. He wants to play full time, and they want him as a backup player. After another year with Seibu, he'll be a free agent ... then he can sign with whomever he wants the following year.

From reading the article, is it not the case that $2.5 million was the money to be paid to Seibu, rather than a salary for Nakajima? The failure to reach agreement within 30 days refers to personal terms between the player and the Yankees, I think.

Haha!! As a Lions fan and Yankees hater, this is great news for me. Agree with Edojin. Maybe the Lions will have a good year afterall.
