that sucks. he is going to have to back up Jeter, Cano, A-Rod. If I were him, I'd force a trade or stay in Japan.

Booo!! I HATE the bloody Yankees, so I guess I can`t cheer for NJ... until he gets released or sent to the minors in 1 or 2 years!))

Ah, come on... they're a respectable team, and it sounds like, unlike Kawasaki or whatever his name is, Nakajima might be a good catch.

Well, I
d prefer he stayed with the Lions, but hell probably sit on the bench a lot. Or maybe he`ll hit a home run in his first at bat, then be booed mercilessly like Kaz Matsui by the HOME fans within a few months!-1

He'll back up not only Jeter but also Nunez, who is the Yanks' backup shortstop. I think Jeter has 2 or 3 more years on his contract, so Nakajima would be spending a lot of early time in the minors to get some playing time - unless he plays better than Nunez (or the Yanks trade Nunez for some pitching) or until Jeter becomes a DH.
But that's putting the wagon before the horse: Nakajima and NYY haven't even started negotiating yet.

"But that's putting the wagon before the horse: Nakajima and NYY haven't even started negotiating yet." Good point, but I heard he is happy to go anywhere in the ML. Adios, HY.

Looks tough to break into the NYY infield. Wish him luck. Ganbare.

He'll fill in for Jeter and A-Rod primarily, with the expectation that he'll get significant playing time the next 2-3 years with them aging and injury-prone. He'd better hope for some injuries because it's hard to get playing time in the AL with the DH and the lack of substitutions. It's a shame about the posting system limiting him to the highest bidder. There are some other MLB clubs that would've used him more in the middle IF than the Yankees.
