Yuki Yoshimura hit a two-run home run and rookie right-hander Kentaro Kuwahara pitched his first shutout, leading the Yokohama BayStars to a 4-0 win over the Hanshin Tigers on Saturday. Yoshimura drove a 2-0 pitch from Ryan Vogelsong (3-3) over the left-field wall in the third inning. Kuwahara held Hanshin to seven hits while striking out six and walking two at Kyocera Dome. Yokohama added two runs in the sixth on a Ryoji Aikawa RBI single and a passed ball by Toshihiro Noguchi. Central League leader Hanshin has lost seven of its last eight games.
