Mine is ordered, a 4.7¨one. One of the best things about iPhones, besides being good, is that they retain value. My current 5S, unlocked, cost me U$650 in September last year. One year on, I sold it for U$550. I will just add another hundred dollars and get a brand new one. If only TVs, and other electronic gadgets had a such a good market...

New iPhone 6 simfree? Whats with Japanese carriers locking their phones? I have an AU iPhone 4s that has been paid off but still can only be used with AU, I want to switch it to Softbank but get shown the door each time I ask...

So much for those who claim that Apple is failing because IOS doesn't have as large a market share as Android. When they are selling more phones than any previous model, it's a success, regardless of whatever their market share may be.

One reason why the iPhone has done well even though the technical specs were behind Android phones is the very mature iOS ecosystem and the fact the iPhone itself--5 and 5S models especially--are pretty good devices because Apple so tightly controls both hardware and software design. Indeed, a lot of people like the iPhone 5/5S' built-in rear camera, especially the fact the iPhone does a lot of internal image processing to get very good pictures even on the first shot. (By the way, I'm glad Apple resisted the temptation to go above eight megapixel resolution on the iPhone 6 models, instead improving the sensor for better low-light performance.) The iPhone--especially 5 and 5S--retain their value because it is Apple--not the cellphone carrier--that does the updates on iOS itself, which means the phone won't go obsolete easily.

These are my reasons for using iphones. The phones are well made (I've dropped my iphone 5 too many times to count, and it still works great), and they work well with our other devices (macs, ipads).

Back in the day, I bought a really nice stereo, but I pieced together items from different companies - sony receiver, JVC TV, kenwood CD player etc. When going through the manual, I realized there were all sorts of different features that didn't work because the other components were not part of the same ecosystem. My next stereo, I bought all the same company (JVC I believe), and I had a whole lot of new features because the different devices were made to work with each other. This is what caused me to drink the apple kool-ade. You can get higher specs by piecing together a different phone from your computer, from your tablet etc. But the overall package of Apple devices results in a better complete system.

Sheeple.

There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding the new I-Phone announcement, reported record online order, delivery delay which itself is tantamount to breach of contract and one wonders what is in store on 19 September when the new gadget hits the retail shelves! Fans and customers of the new gadget are well advised to be cautious as true worth of pudding is in tasting! The consumer protection agencies around the world should also keep an eye on related developments!

Sheeple

If liking a quality product that works well with the other quality products from the same company makes me a sheeple, then baaaa.

I remember when people used to sneer about large phones.

I'm wondering why Apple doesn't have a version the same size as the 5. I ordered a 6, but I'm worried it's going to be too big in my pocket. Time will tell.

Of course Apple will claim "record numbers". Their marketing department is their real strength, not their phones. Wouldn't be surprised if this article was paid for by Apple. Then again, sheeple... People have followed more ridiculous trends (cough cough ice bucket cough cough).

Ridiculous. You think they got to be the top (or maybe #2 right now) company in the world by marketing alone? You're kidding yourself. Getting to that point requires quality products on top of excellent marketing. Without both, it would be impossible to get to that point.

Apple is going to make a ton of money on their new stuff.

Just think - if the millions of people who are going to buy into the hype and upgrade their iPhones gave as much of a damn about the environment their new toys will end up polluting as they do about the slightly enlarged screen, iOS 8 operating system, faster processor and improved camera optics, maybe their kids and grandkids would inherit a healthier planet.

Apparently not.

Many do, some don't. The new models provide options. I'm choosing the smaller of the two 6's.

Says one who no doubt owns an Android and must always come onto a thread about Apple and, ahem, drone out 'sheeple' just as others on the same thread have done. hahaha... who are the 'sheeple', then? And why WOULDN'T Apple claim record numbers when the number of orders are a record? Look up 'denial' in the dictionary.

The problem with the popularity of the product is the inability to keep up with consumer demand. I tried to pre-order mine on the 12th when the 'gates' opened at four p.m. online and the 'simple' pre-order procedure resulted in my getting an email the next day asking me to wait for an MMS that would confirm a pre-confirmation of my pre-order, which I still have yet to receive and confirm, and which likely means when I go to the shop tomorrow to ask what's up they'll tell me the registration of my order failed and I have to wait a couple of months to get a phone. That's more a Softbank problem than anything, though, and not the first time I've had problems with their online shop. I'll be peeved if I have to wait until year-end.

I'm way ahead of you all, I own the iphone 12! Yes I have an 8 inch screen, widgets, multi tasking, s-pen. 2gb memory, otg compatible, etc etc.....just the os is different...but that's what makes it invisible for our furry friends.

yeah i remember no so ago many of the Applites were laughing and the OAR sizes phones of Samsung, LG etc. no Apple have been super innovative and up sized to a 5+inch phone. as one poster put it, Apple could put a turd in a pretty case and Applites would buy it.
