Everyone who has ever predicted the end of the querty keyboard....has been wrong. Deja vu all over again.

Apple has a knack for spotting problems we didn’t know we had. It can leave us wondering how we survived without vast libraries of music and TV shows in our pockets

Apple didn't invent the MP3 player - Rio did. Apple didn't even invent the HD-based MP3 player - Archos did. Apple makes very appealing products - they aren't really ahead of the curve products.

I have seen several reports that this is a rumor and not a real product yet.

From the article: "Portable music players and “smart” phones had existed before the iPod and the iPhone came along, and yet it was Apple that redefined those categories."

Apple didn't invent but refined the various concepts into mind share. That's Apple's killer move. They make superb products backed up with superb marketing, which led them to where they are today. The iPhone may be just another smart phone but it will overtake RIM's phones given time. It's a game changer, like the iPod was. This tablet could do the same.

Querty-->qwerty, but there is still good old dvorak for the old-timers who never switched.

But reports widely say this is only a rumored product that it does not actually exist.

you look at the electronics part orders and you can pretty much figure what they are making -however the software is unknown.

    Aren't iPhones like advanced iPods?

I think that, as the article suggest, the Kindle/e-books niche is a market niche just waiting to be redefined.

So basically it'll be a dumbed down netbook with a touchscreen.

You wont have to type on the tablet. you speak, tablet types for you.

thought of that bobba, but it would have to be voice trained only for you. Imagine sitting in your office space and telling your tablet that the fat lady next to you smells like bad perfume? Nah,,,no good. Got to type

We'll see how this one goes.

The Apple TV didn't set the world on fire.

Sounds like they`ll make the coolest-looking netbook yet and then get everyone to think they must have one.

Its not like we have seen it before...

When Docomo first launched 3G - it had a PDA with a bluetooth headset. I humbly suggest - apple will launch a multimedia internet slate that includes mobility. Carry the slate like the shoebox phones of old for internet, multimedia, games, and of course - our trusty mobile phone. Apple doesn't invent - it re-invents. Most of apple's products are 2-5 year spin-offs of cool sony or other j-stuff.

Exactly the opposite! It will be a no keyboard netbook with more bells and whistles than the average person can play with. Have you not used an iPod touch or an iPhone? Take that interface, add an OS and you will have more fun than a ferret down your pants. - Not that I will be rushing out to buy one, mind you.

They should call it the iTabelerasa

The iPod touch is everything the iPhone is except for the cellular connection = if you have wifi you can make Voip (skype etc) calls on the iPod touch thru the wifi.

These Voip (wifi) phones are great for kids. No ($55-75 month) cell charges, use the wifi at school or home etc.

They will make a netbook with cell for the professional and one without cell for students that. Expect all handheld devices to use wifi and voip in the future also = cell companies will need to change.

These devices for students will save time and money on books/tests etc, track your student with gps, connect with the teacher easier etc. -Teachers and students must change also.

HTC tried to do that with a 5 inch model and it bombed because they wanted too much money for it.

I think Apple is going to come out with a cage covered and whip off the curtain and there it will be! Two Homing Pidgins with the Apple Logo presented on their feathers through genetic engineering, and with a special carrying case to take your hand written messages out to the world.
