As a potential e-book buyer, Apple and the publishers are the reason that I don't buy e-books as I would like to. In many cases, e-books cost the same as a paperback/hardcover on sale. Buying a used copy or a brand new book(discounted) off of Amazon is better than paying what Apple and the publisher wants for e-books.
It doesn't cost the publishers more money to published e-books formats. E-books purchases have also increased significantly over the last couple of years due to the popularity of the Kindle and yet the prices of e-books have not been competitive.

This is why I chose Kindle -- it's more consumer friendly. The savings from printing, transportation and other costs should be passed on to the consumer. Apple sucks!
