You have a record number of iPhone sales for the quarter and the headline states: Apple reports slowest iPhones sales since 2007 iPhone launch. =Very misleading.

It's the in-between lull that always happens. There's this thing called an iPhone 7 coming, you know?

There's this thing called an iPhone 7 coming, you know? and then there will be a Iphone 8, 9, 10 etc just like any good movie the sequels never really measure up and fade the more you make.

I've found each new version of the iphone to be an improvement on the previous versions, so I'm not really sure how you justify that comment.

Too many back to back releases. They need to wait a little while to release seven and make sure there are more new functions than just tweaks on the old.

wtfjapan: "There's this thing called an iPhone 7 coming, you know? and then there will be a Iphone 8, 9, 10 etc just like any good movie the sequels never really measure up and fade the more you make."

it would only be like that if the new models were not a step up and offer new and better things. When you go to the movie store and see they have a Beethoven 15 and not even Judge Reinhold's understudy wants to do it anymore, or a Home Alone 12, it's ridiculous because they could not build on the first one, or maybe the third. But that's a horrible analogy because each model improves on the last, even if only a little, with new phones.

Anyway, they will always sell, but if Apple wants to continue to soar they need something new. Watch won't pick up much of the slack at the moment.

It's harder to excite people now with new phone features since most, if not all, of the necessary features have already been covered quite well, with anything else just icing on the cake. Like the principle of diminishing returns as a technology matures. Apple already pulled out the larger screen-size trump card; not too many trump cards left. Maybe the cordless charging feature, or opening up the NFC signal beyond just Apple Pay - features that people would use all the time.

Meanwhile, the other recent Apple product releases haven't exactly set the world on fire. The new Apple TV, the iWatch, the new iPad, Apple has been reluctant to detail those products' figures, unlike the iPhone figures. It's harder to find new growth products, so it's just status quo, which by itself isn't bad.

With the more affluent societies already getting saturated, the new growth areas would be at developing and poorer countries. However, that's not Apple's premium market who are the well-off. So in the meantime, Apple has to wait till those societies become rich enough to become a market for them.

I think between the maturing cellphone market in North America, Europe, Japan and South Korea and the slowdown in the Chinese economy, don't expect hot sales of the iPhone anymore.

I think this could cause Apple to seriously reconsider dropping the 3.5 mm headphone connector on the upcoming iPhone 7. They don't want to do anything that could offend current iPhone users and potential iPhone users and really hurt sales down the road.

Why does society put so much obsessive value on growth and being better than the rest. A main source of unhappiness: always wanting more, and what we don't have.

The Apple system is distinct, without competitors for those hooked into it. All those paid apps and Apple-only peripherals can mean quite an investment. Without the intense competition of a same system product, these heavily-invested customers have been left vulnerable to Apple's planned obsolescence (number, number + S, next number). Having said that, their products have unrivaled resale value among tech items.

generations behind tech tends to do that. Also the Jumped the Shark app didn't really help.
