uh-oh! This is going to upset gogogo and a couple of others who said it would be "a complete failure like the iPod". Enjoy the crow, boys!

@smithjapan: they'll come, foaming with rage. As usual. LOL. The reviews I have read so far say the same thing: once you taste the Apple Watch, you can't let it go. I can hardly wait to get mine.

Mine came 5 days ago and has been fun to explore. First time I've worn a watch in 30 years -- ever since I lost my Casio Memo 50.

The power has not been an issue. In fact, it seems to extend the battery life on my iPhone since it doesn't get turned on as often.

I never expected this, but Mickey Mouse, with his tapping foot, is my favorite selectable watch face.

I like mine. If you are into fitness at all, it's great. I've been using it at the gym, on my bike, when out walking.

Any indication that Apple Pay will come to Japan any time soon?

LostinNagoya: I know they'll come on here -- or just pretend the fact that Apple is once again the head of the pack is not reality. In any case, normally I would say Apple Pay would NEVER come to Japan because of the stubborn resistance to implement technology that is better than that which they created. Train companies and convenience stores would fight it tooth and nail. Now you can't even use the 7-11 keitai point card (Nanaco) because they won't support Apple. BUT, since the Olympics are coming soon I see a good chance for Apple and supporters to push the government to accept it, saying that it would provide a good means to boost the economy since most people from foreign nations don't like to carry a lot of cash on their person, traveler's cheques are not so common here, and ATMs are still pretty hard to use in terms of accessing foreign accounts from Japan (the 7-11 ATMs can; others will not even accept foreign credit cards despite sporting VISA logos and what not). IF they were to do that there would be no turning back and the system would spread very rapidly.

I was going to wait to get one until any initial flaws had been worked out, but you guys have got me excited about it and, since I'll have to wait a while anyway to get it, I might just order one now. Which one did you guys get? I don't really like the sports' bands, although granted my main purpose for getting it is for the fitness functions, but since the more expensive 'iWatch'es are really just the same watch with different bands, I think I'll opt for the cheaper ones (wider screen).

I'm a huge Apple fan and have just about everything Apple, but the Samsung smart watch seems a lot more functional and stylish. I think I'll be waiting for the next generation of Apple watches before I consider buying one.

Smith it is NOTnup to the Government to accept Apple Pay it is a Business one that each company has to do and find clients that will support and use it.

So phones might support it but not the businesses.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Exactly. I don't think Apple exactly needs government assistance.

It"S ME: Of COURSE it's not up to the government, but the government can ask, pressure, or subsidize the costs of a company adopting technology and practices that it deems worthy.

The companies are STUPID to resist this kind of technology solely based on pride. Look how badly Docomo and AU were damaged by refusing, as they were approached before Softbank, to contract with iPhone. Docomo lost a HUGE amount of customers, as did AU, and later they actually had the gall to COMPLAIN that it was not fair they too could not sell iPhones! You remember that, don't you? recall how they said "we don't need foreign cell phones here" and "Japanese cell phones can already do everything an iPhone can and people won't buy them," etc. So here again we have them saying the same thing about Apple Pay, with companies in Japan that invented the original tech complaining Apple is getting all the recognition, and meanwhile you cannot use the systems in Japan ANYWHERE outside of Japan (and even then have to have a dozen different cards or different companies to use the services!), while in the rest of the world you can do it all with one product. Japan loses again out of stubborness -- and we all know they will have to EVENTUALLY do it. geez only from this month you can FINALLY unlock your phone! something you've been able to do across the world for ages!!

Smith.

Counter question. Why should the government favour or subsidies one technology over another.

Free competition without government interference is still the best system. Businesses make decisions and either make a loss or profit based on tnem.

But maybe people like you and others should consult and advise major corporations. ????

Honestly, I just hate Apple. I hate their exploitation of workers, their knowing they can charge anything and people will still pay, I hate their arrogance, I hate them for making great products that draw me in, I hate that they convince people to buy products they don't need, and I want them to get off my lawn.

well well sorry I just walked into a Apple b** buddy fest. Can see all the Apple watch owners winking and high fiving each other as they walk by. havent worn a watch in 30yrs and suddenly have the urge to do again because Apple brought out a watch..... sigh sorry youve been assimilated by Apples PR (brainwashing) juggernaut

I think the last two posts show the nerd/lunatic fringe who hate Apple for no other reason than the popularity and success of the company. period.

No claims whatsoever, just "they are successful and popular, I hate them"

it really is child-like.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

*nerd/lunatic fringe***** theres many reasons why Apple only control 15% of the worlds smartphone market. mainly because its an average product at an inflated price. I can easily afford to deck my house out with Apple products, but i see so much better value for money products that perform as well as Apple and better. they only nerd/lunatic fringe are those that cant see this simple fact and continued to be sucked in. I just refuse to be another sheeple

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Above. Lunatic at its best, errr, I mean at its worst. LOL. And you do need to do some search before posting. It is not a watch - those solely will display you the current time and some plus shallow info. Smart watches are quite in another league. People who are buying them are not interested in just looking at the time, as your comment imply, unless one is, well, very lunatic, to the point of buying a smart watch to check the time. And, well, once again, why are you so enraged about other people spending their OWN money, and not yours, on Apple? Sounds like you bought millions of shares of companies that fell behind Apple in recent times. LOL.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Of course they'll lead. iSheep are the only ones foolish enough to buy smartwatches in droves.
