If they could at least take care of an overlooked thing in their smart phones: they do not have the accessory hanging capability like Japanese cell phones do.

" Apple’s hotly-anticipated smartwatch ... "

Hotly anticipated by who? Afaic, this is another gadget that nobody needs.

Hotly anticipated by who?

Journalists. Do they get paid when there's nothing to report? Gotta stretch those reports out somehow.

Hotly anticipated by who?

Me for one. I've been looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Tell me again how well Japanese smartphone makers are doing?

I guess they are now going to sue Pebble watch?

Apple is never going to dominate this segment. Too many big names under the Android Wear banner already, and some really stylish watches like the Huawei Watch and Pebble Steel are on the way.

Apple will make some marketing number to tell everyone it is selling, but with a battery of less than a day it's going to be a flop. Apple already stripped out most of the tech to increase the battery life.

"Gugu gaga! Apple!! New Product!! Umm...I want!" - Apple Fans everywhere.

I do not have a phone, and I certainly do not want to have a watch.

WilliB: "Hotly anticipated by who?"

Many, many people, as you well know. Like Strangerland, I too am eager to see what they come out with and what it can do. I plan to buy one, but not until second generation when they've ironed out the kinks and hopefully improve the battery life, which for me is the biggest concern.

Pandabelle: Wrong. They will dominate, as they do in pretty much everything else they come out with, in terms of platform. Samsung and others RUSHED to produce their products when word of Apple's ideas came out and so far theirs has met with many problems. Pebble seems a little more reliable, but Apple will easily outstrip them in sales rather quickly.

As for spelling trouble for sports-wear manufacturers, it will and it won't. Non of the people who buy professional gear for running and what not will replace it for an Apple watch (or others for that matter). It would only spell danger for them by might by the sports equipment on a whim and not really need it and who can now get it as an added feature of a smart watch.

Is that plastic?

wow thats certainly innovation for you, who would have thought that a watch could be a computer, im sure many Applites will fork out the $349 to be part of this history making tech............hold on!?

I won't buy.............toooooooooo expensive for the average person!

Undoubtly, it will sell by the tens of millions of units. I am one of them. Do I need a smartwatch? I don't think so. But if Apple Watch will make me save time by showing me notifications and things I think it's important to our business, then it will another winner Apple gadget. BTW, I loved the standard model with the light brown band - it looks very exquisite.

The AFBs, as noticed, will suck up whatever apple tells them to.
