I can't believe they even listened to apple in he first place. How ridiculous it would be if Calvin Klein sued Fruit of the Loom or something saying "They stole our elastic waistbands idea!" Apple just wants to knock out the competition, plain and simple.

    This was meant sarcastically right?

I don't know many details, but the few that have been told are a little ridiculous on apple's part. If you asked a bunch of 5-year-olds to specify how a touch-sensitive device should work, they would probably run afoul of apple's patents. If you design the most intuitive interface possible, you have to expect that other people might think of making it the same way. That's what "intuitive" means. I can understand their argument over the "bounce-back" feature and similar, but come on. There are only so many ways you can do something on a touch screen.

I bet somewhere in apple's legal arsenal, they're sitting on a patent for making the phones flat, instead of cube-shaped.

Looks like Apple is back to it's old tricks. When it's "innovation" starts to wane they start getting sue happy in order to keep their products on top. I see a bleak future for Apple "innovation".

Apple will be here for a long time. Steve Jobs left the company with innovative ideas that would come to market over the next 5 years.

Looking at all those dirty games initiated by Apple, I will buy products of Samsung.

Apple has not done any more dirty games than any other big company out there. All these cos are dirty to start with. To say one is less dirty than another one is a bunch of bs.

I don't get why Samsung needs to pay anything. That is like Dell suing Apple for making and laptop with MAC OS.

Actually a bit different, but yes, the current patent office is ridiculously broken.

Apple will be here for a long time. Steve Jobs left the company with innovative ideas that would come to market over the next 5 years.

The only things he left apple with is a massive lawsuit that will eventually tarnish the company's image. ip5 and ipad mini are two things he absolutely hated, one has a standard 16:9 screen that breaks compatibility, the other is a 7" tablet that he said would never sell and had too much compromise.

Apple has not done any more dirty games than any other big company out there.

They patented a box with rounded corners even if a dozen systems had that design. You can't get much more evil than to sue others for common sense, using a "patent" that doesn't even cover technical details (like exact angles and curve sizes)

Over the festive shopping, the iPad was the most bought tablet in America, followed by Nexus. The iPad mini was a winner for many shoppers. Windows Surface tablet don't even get a mention in the computer mag reports. The next generation of iPad, the iPad 5 will have the same screen size has the previous iPads.

In Japan, the iPhone is the top selling smart phone.

Apple patents crap that has been out for ages. They are in the process of patenting the little SIM card trays in phones. Ya, you know. The same kind of SIM card trays that have been in Japanese phones for at least half a decade.

The only innovation from Apple is to get people thinking it's the best thing out and make them buy it over and over again. The only problem for them now, is trying to keep these people from thinking there are better alternatives out there. They're failing at that.

The iPad was the "most bought" tablet in America based on random people tweeting. Hardly accurate information.

iPhone top selling smartphone. Not hard, when you never every single phone the exact same. I bet if Samsung named all their phones Galaxy S (with some moniker behind it), the Galaxy would be the top selling smartphone in Japan. Big whoop. Android still owns over 64% of the Japanese market.

Zichi yet again cuts thru all the false information and doomsday scenarios from the Apple haters. The public have voted with their wallets and cool, innovative Apple wins again!

The majority of buyers of the iPad mini are new buyers or people with other makes of tablets and are now changing.

All the while, Android keeps taking more and more marketshare. Surpassing Apple in both the phone and tablet markets. Apparently the public has voted with their wallets.
