So Transmission's website was hacked?

I have Transmission 2.90, but I downloaded it a while before last Friday. Does that mean it's OK?
I'm wary of downloading new stuff from a site that is known to have been got at....

It would be very uplifting to read some stories about these hackers being apprehended and sentenced to long stays in US federal prisons.

So, their bubble about no virus...on Apple just burst - no OS is safe. Well except VMS that had been shown to be non-hackable., but then hardly anything runs on it.

From the Transmission website - downloads after 11:00am PST, March 4, 2016 and before 7:00pm PST, March 5, 2016 need to be deleted, otherwise OK, it seems. Phew.

Well except VMS that had been shown to be non-hackable., but then hardly anything runs on it. and thats why it currently non-hackable because hackers dont waste there time on OS that wont get them much exposure. Apple have just been lucky up to this point. If a program can be made by a human it can be hacked by humans.

Since most computer users don't bother with BitTorrent copyright protected file stealing, er, I mean file sharing, is this really much of a problem, even for Apple users?

Most things transmitted by BitTorrent programs are not used by the overwhelming majority of computer users, regardless of the OS. However, when compared to Apple's OS, Windows has been easily hackable and compromised by the simplest methods, though it's admittedly better today. So it's less an issue of being "lucky" and one of Apple OS still having superior protection. The fault lies entirely with Transmission.
Further, as long as your computer, regardless of the operating system is backed up physically and externally, it isn't that dire a situation.

Transmission? Use better! heheheh
