I find this amazing. Reason: You cannot get a Samsung product in Japan.

The Japanese market is a hard place to displace the locals. The US market is more open to non-local competition.
Besides, many of the LCD glass screens from Sony and others are actually made by Samsung.

I agree, Japan needs more Samsung tvs and cellphones NOW! Last week in the USA and Mexico, most of the cellphones my family used were Motorola and Samsung and they sounded a million times better than the junk we use here in Japan.

Think about it. If you lived in a country that designed and produced decent quality goods, wouldn't you want to buy those goods, even if there were slightly better foreign designed/built products out there?
If you said no, then you probably aren't really supporting your fellow countrymen. This is how globalization has ripped the US apart, gutting the manufacturing industry.
In the case of the Japanese consumer, I completely agree with those who want to buy only Japanese products. Likewise Koreans and Korean products etc. That extra bell or whistle on your average Samsung phone is not a deal breaker, it's pure frosting. Supporting Taro Suzuki, however, trickles back to you many ways.
Personally, I buy Canadian and Japanese stuff first, with American stuff next, and then maybe European, Aussie and Korean stuff. If the only option is Chinese, then I give it a rethink.
