“But there is no consumer protection. There is no guarantee you will get your money back.”

There's no consumer protection with currencies either - any currency can collapse, and if it does, it's not like you have insurance on your cash. If there was, lots of Japanese people would be cashing on their insurance as a result of Abenomics.

" And many economists warn that the currency has no hard value."

Ha! And how is that actually different from the government issued currencies?

The Canadian and US pennies, for instance have a higher melt value than face value now, thanks to the monthly QEs and Canada has stopped minting them. The paper monies in our pockets have zero real value.

Bitcoin is a great idea in that it's decentralized, and not under the manipulation of skanky, slimy central banker-criminals.

We need all these Bitcoin ATM's around the world! Bitcoin is the only solution to this Illuminati controlled world. The Illuminati who keeps on pushing fiat currencies on every economy on every country. They make money from rubbish pieces of paper limitless, having nothing(gold or other precious metals) to back it up in case something happens. Bitcoin is the internet's money. And the internet is FREEDOM!
