This is bad news. I am sure I am in a majority when I say that I record TV programs to watch at a more convenient time not to distribute it round the world. If I am watching a series that goes on for weeks may be one week I can't make the time slot but should I have to miss the story? Also I am already paying for the program through cabel fees - so now I have to pay twice?
So, copyright royalties will be added to the price of blank discs, but copying will still be illegal. And why should I have to pay a royalty to copy my own photos and documents to a disc?
Would this make (currently illegal) downloading of TV programs or movies legal? If you're forced to pay copyright royalities every time you buy disks, then shouldn't there be some justification to argue you've paid for the download already? If not, then what justification do they have for adding the copyright fee to blank disks and machines? Should the innocent user of said machines and disks be forced to pay for the ineffectiveness of police or law makers just to satisfy a certain section of the market? Seems a strange solution, one better served by increased policing.

Suck it up, Scrote. Without these fees, it would not be possible for fine groups like Morning Musume to offer us the quality entertainment we too often take for granted. Particularly their suicide and addition problems.

One of the Morning Musume committed suicide? Who? I remeber Kago-chan being kicked out after her smoking habit went public, but never heard about a suicide??
Also, I don't think I found anywhere in the original article about levying the price of blank discs - just the machines

Andrew,
I was referring to a wrist-slashing incident. Suicide attempt.
