After forcefully swallowing bitter pride and the words RIM's CEO said about iPhone six years ago (who will want to use a phone with a screen that gets oily and smeared??), BlackBerry 10 may be the most serious rival for iPhones. It has a safe OS, a good number of users and it definetely has a feature that matters a lot in the smartphone world: it does not look tacky, cheap, like other iPhone rivals. It looks as sophisticated and high-end as iPhones. I certainly if I had to switch from Apple to another OS, it would be RIM.
