NTT Docomo will launch an outbound LTE roaming service for subscribers traveling in eight countries and regions, including popular travel destinations such as the mainland USA and Hawaii, Hong Kong and France, beginning March 31.
Existing flat-rate data roaming plans will be applied to the service, allowing Docomo users to enjoy roaming with confidence on ultra-high-speed LTE mobile networks overseas.
Docomo said it will continue to expand its global LTE roaming coverage, teaming up with additional overseas partners to further enhance mobile experiences for the increased convenience and satisfaction of its Japan-leading customer base.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm going to research this further. With the amount I spend to use my phone overseas, switching to Docomo could potentially save me a lot of money. Need to find out more specifics.

Isn't this the same thing as AU Glbal passport?

$100 a month for data? Sounds too high to me. How about ¥100/ day for existing customers? After all, you still pay for your service here, that you aren't using, while you're overseas.

Docomo already has a global roaming service, this is for LTE service.

I just returned from a trip to Hawaii, mainland USA, and Germany and had my data service turned off on my phone the whole time because WiFi is widely available. Had no need to use my phone while outside of WiFi area, so I'm not sure I would want to pay that much.

This is good... Each year I spend 4 months in Japan, 4 in Europe and 4 in USA... My DoCoMo phone can now use high speed in the USA and Europe... Already have a USA phone with T-Mobile which has unlimited free data and sms roaming in 120 countries... Data is a little slow, but fine for email... Be great if DoCoMo could match that... Just shows that the mobile world is changing fast... My UK phone (O2) still crucifies me on roaming charges, so only for emergencies only outside UK... :-)

depending on the country your in the price varies, the U.S mainland and Hawaii is the most expensive at 1,580 yen per day but requires that you fill in an application. So not too bad, better than what it was before to the point that no one would use it.
