eBook prices need to come down too - I don't understand why they charge about the same price as for a paper book when there is much less overhead. I know amazon have brought some of their prices down but I don't like their propriety format...

Nothing will ever replace the experience of being able to turn the pages of a book that has you captivated. Also, just as long term use of pcs has a bad effect on one's eyes, so it will be with adding yet another source of glare caused by artificial background light on the screen.

I'm not interested in ever getting one of these, regardless of manufacturer.

By paper do you mean a 'real' book or a paperback book? Hardcover books are much more expensive than ebooks; paperbacks - depends on the publisher and sometimes the book is not available as an ebook.

Nothing will ever replace the experience of being able to turn the pages of a book that has you captivated.

Not to disparage our mutual enjoyment of turning pages in a real book, but people of a certain age have ONLY read online or mostly online. In a generation or so, you and I will be the old f*rts regaling our grandchildren about something called 'a book.'

The Kindle and Nook do not shoot light into your eyes like computer monitors do. They're using a more modern technology called epaper. No lights in your eyes on either e-reader.

Having a Kindle myself, it is fairly nice to carry around up to 1,000 books on one device and still do the Internet, though in black and white, and listen to my mp3s. Ereaders will only make reading easier and it is one eco-solution that I can frankly live with--I have already 1,000 pages which are not in paper form. Imagine all of the paper that was saved from all of those ebooks on Amazon already.

For someone with certain eye disorders like me, e-books are a godsend. I need very high contrast to read and without e-books, I would have to sit with a bright light and magnifying glass. This half-blind bookaholic has no nostalgia for hard-to-read and heavy-to-carry paper books.

I like real books and newspapers in my hands, as I do not have to scroll, and coming from the generation of using punch cards to do a computer program, this is interesting. I am an avid Mac computer person, but I like to have the warmth of a book in my hands and not have to worry about having it put in a gray box at check in at an airport and possibly damaged or taken away. Wow! My library didn't crash and disappear, it got taken away physically!
