Or people you feel obligated to "friend" just for keeping up appearances.

FB is ok, but I hate looking at all of these other people I have no idea who they are! This is a friend of a cousin of a past neighbor that you once had while in college, so now FB says, he/she wants to be your friend?? Also, bad guys look at FB too, so if you brag too much about your new car etc..guess where the bad guys will go to steal??

I'd rather just purge people from the "Friend" area. the obligation to be friends with family and people from High School is ridiculous. Move on with life.

I don't doubt this may happen but I wonder if there are any statistics to back this claim up. A satirical site about the foursquare site mentions this too, but it was being satirical, he wrote redundantly again.

What they didn't say was that ads can be targetted to even smaller niches within each person's life. It's all about monetizing and Suckerberg is attempting to prove it can be done on Facebook without using sketchy malware installing ads or Zynga.
