With autonomous vehicles being tested in Kanagawa, who takes the blame if a cyclist flies out of a side street and into the car?

I wonder what all the pointless interest there is in driverless cars. If I want to get somewhere without driving, I can easily take a bus a taxi, train or subway, and any of these cost far less to use on a daily basis than any driverless car.
The thing that I like about cars is being able to drive them. Driving is fun, riding in the passengers seat while someone else drives is not fun. But I guess if we aren't actually driving our cars, we will probably be glued to the screen of some idiotic device, watching Youtube, or browsing the internet, where we can be bombarded with more Google ads for things we don't need.

Don't know why you guys were down voted but, those points are true. Self driving cars would require too much other construction, and in Japan, with all these small streets and crazy intersections. Sounds cool, but leave it in the movies.

It'll be all fun and games until one of those little 25mph mushroom cars gets knocked into opposing traffic by a Prius.
