Sadly as I write this, NOTHING written about in this article is yet available on Google Play as mentioned. :(

NHK must be loosing their collective minds over the mention of that new 'Chromecast' dongle. Oh how their poor viewers will be sooooo confused now that they must stop Google from selling these in Japan of course for the benefit of their viewers. ;)

ipad killer. Apple is dying a slow death.

I have a 7-inch tablet and an 8-inch tablet (both android) and I have to say once I got used to the "4:3" 8-inch screen, it was a disappointingly inferior experience to read, surf the web, and watch movies or TV programs on the 7-inch. From a selfish point of view, I would have preferred a Nexus 8.

Apple is a lot like Japan. They take existing technology, perfect it, then market it as unique and meant for only a certain type of person. Google is more like South Korea, they will try something new and sell to who ever is willing to buy. Apple's margin, similar to Japan, are just going to get smaller and smaller, but they will always retain their core audience.

Umm, I'm sorry, but what? Isn't Samsung basically copying Apple?

In fact, this whole "throwing a bunch of stuff and see which one sticks" strategy is not anything new... Sony has been doing that for a while, and that is one of the reasons why they're failing... I'm not saying that Google does that and Google is failing. I don't think that your analogy quite works.

Google is designing Chrome and Android as platforms to work with any product you can fit a microchip and os in. It's pretty open and Google is publicly taking more chances and allowing developers to innovate. Take a look at Korea, they are BRICK, they are taking more chances opening their boarders to more trade and trying to innovate. Other side, you have Apple who have never tried to be the first to market in any field. They want a perfect product, so they wait, research, boil all the factors down to what they think is acceptable. Once there, they market their product, they don't take chances and have a target market they are aiming to please. Take a look at Japan in recent times. NTT had mobile web (I-mode), controlled close range data transfer (FeliCA), and mobile video over 5 years before Apple/Google/Samsung. They kept those products in Japan and targeted the domestic market. Japan has a long history of doing this, Apple has long history of doing this.

@isoducky: your analisys couldn't be more accurate about Google and Apple. But, Korea in BRIC?? It's a first for me.
