Here is a nice tool for everyone opposing the Google data collection: http://www.googlesharing.net/

Later this year? I already turned this feature off last week when it kept changing my search results despite that I hadn't pushed enter! It was annoying to say the least. Maybe it would be good for people who don't know how to spell, or who actually only look up common words like "weather."

Hasn't this been around AGES already?

I'm trying it and will reserve judgement. You can turn it off if you don't like it.

Thanks@Hermione, I prefer to control my searches and didn't realize this new feature could be turned off (thought it was my browser and not Google). I disenabled it and am happy to not have this annoying thing pop up any more.

Just use the search box built into the web browsers. No need to go to the main page.

so a search for Brin (Sergey) will turn up Britney Spears until you complete typing the name.

The press release must have taken some time to reach Japan, this feature has been on for 1-2 weeks now.

I turned it off as well. Annoyed the heck out of me. For the most part, I use the box on my browser rather than the main Google page but when I have to refine my searches in the main window, the "instant" search is really annoying.

The change, called “Google Instant,” is the closest the 12-year-old company has come yet to realizing its founders’ ambition to build a search engine that reads its users’ minds.

If it read my mind it would know I find this new feature annoying as hell.

It was kind of cool for about five seconds and then it just got weird. Especially when gross photos or something would pop up in the search.

It should wait until completion of a word to start autosearch. It becomes really annoying when I type just a single letter and the search result comes with all the irrelevant results.

What...er... were you searching for when you...er...got those "gross photos"? Just so I know what not to search for of course.

I really don't see the point in this. I don't think "OMG they readed mai brane, lol", just think "what an annoying waste of time!", but in different words.

It seems that Google has noticed your post and have gone back to old format. Thanks and congratulations to you !

Well Im happy with 0.01 of a second wait. Not sure if I need 0.001.

I guess I'm the only who likes the instant search. It's faster and less clicking. All the other search engines will be copying it soon enough.

    I'm not impressed.
