Ohhhh how wonderful. A new SNS. Wow, I can hardly wait to start receiving invitations to join, sent by software that hijacks the address book contents of my friends' computers. I would gladly pay for a app that rejects all such invitations as and then threatens to retaliate by sending a virus to anybody who continues to spam me via their SNS.

Google should stick to their searchengine and gmail and googledocs, thats it, the rest is absolutely useless. googlewave? comon.

So, since Orkut and Google Buzz have done so well, they decided they'd make another SNS?

With 700 million users, Facebook has won, he said.

People said the same thing about myspace

I can see it now...another invite to use another public social networking site. When will it end? I will not join any other social networking site. I use Facebook (very sparingly) and Twitter...and it stops there!

Well, perhaps Google cannot challenge Facebook alone, but an interesting start-up (Diaspora) is working hard to make social network a open standard. The question one should ask is, why can't people add contacts from other networks (e.g. Linkedin) onto their Facebook page. After all, you can send an e-mail from your yahoo account to a user of gmail, can't you? What if you could only send e-mails to yahoo users?? It would be insane, wouldn't it?

At it's peak, I do not recall myspace having over 700million users.

Who cares! I like people in real so when I get pinched I can smile. If they can make a hand come out and touch me from a computer screen, then I would join.

the positive things are: (1) you don't have to use it if you don't want (makes you believe you have free will). (2) let the poor guys at google experiment, maybe they come up with another great thing.
