My car has an integrated Qi and it is really useful since my phone is always connected to the car via Bluetooth. I don't have to worry about the battery.

Actually, most of the world's modern cellphones--with the very notable exception of the Apple iPhone--have standardized on the USB Micro-B connector for charging and basic I/O in recent years. Apple went with its own connector design because the Apple connectors do more than just charge devices and do basic data I/O--they can output video and (probably soon) super high quality audio, too.

Because USB Micro-B is ubiquitous, getting a charger for most cellphones is fortunately not an issue. Because there are competing wireless charging standards, what may work for one brand of phone in terms of a charging pad may not work for another brand of phone, though the new Samsung Galaxy S 6 does support the most commonly-used standards.

Can also output video with a simple MHL micro-USB to HDMI adapter.

Or simply just get one of those wireless receivers via HDMI to TV that works like Apple TV.

I use Apple TV to steam from my iphone to my TV. Works great. I can stream HD from the internet directly to the TV via the phone.

Yeah I use one too. And I have another one that does the same for Android/Windows/Linux devices. Everything's going wireless now.

All those people worried about getting brain cancer from holding a phone to their heads, and now the trendies want to sprinkle the user landscape with power charging antennas?
