Japan to ease punitive tariffs on S Korea's chip maker Hynix

TOKYO —

Japan will ease punitive tariffs slapped over the last two years on computer chips made by Hynix Semiconductor Inc of South Korea following a recommendation by the World Trade Organization, government officials said Friday.
   
Japan will cut its 27.2% countervailing duty on imports of Hynix dynamic random access memory, or DRAM, chips to 9.1% on Sept 1, the officials said.
