JCOM to enhance cable TV offering
Technology ( 5 )
TOKYO —
Jupiter Telecommunications Co (JCOM) aims to enable customers watch cable television programs on various electronic devices, including smartphones, with no additional charge starting next year. The company will initially launch a service in which customers can record TV programs on their cable converter boxes and transmit them within their homes via Wi-Fi networks.
JCOM hopes to make it possible for users to watch recorded shows outdoors on their mobile phones and PCs, in addition to receiving content directly through an on-demand service.

I'll second that, goddog.
JCOM's cable TV is getting worse, if that's possible. Too much Japanese language encroaching on foreign film channels, commercials on the non-movie channels occur so often you loose the thread of what you were watching, spoken in shrill Japanese at high decibals, even turned low.
Programming that is miserably behind the times...
The time is ripe for a new competitor with better service to step up to the plate.
JCOM can bite my wire.

firstly the news ir misleading. they are only offering the service to subscribers who sign for internet through them and will only be covered for stationary locations. they will never transmit anything over the 3g network for your Iphone, you will have to be within the range of your wifi in your home.
secondly I consider all cable operators to be ripoffs, they are charging the customer for a bunch of channels showing more than 60%ads on top of charging heavily for the ads.

JCOM is not as bad as everyone here says, try putting up with Hachioji TV, way more expensive and the service sucks! I prefer my nice, warm JCOM!
