If the number of users were the other way around, Macs would be the target of viruses too.

I ran Microsoft Update just now, and the updates available doesn't even reach half of the number stated. I guess security flaws ≠ updates.

Diggerdog, what is wrong with your thinking? You can go to game centers and play games on huge screens. You cannot do that on your windowssystem with a huge screen.

You mean for Windows you don't pay for updates. Hmmmmm sounds like you do not know what you are talking about.

Also Macs come with a ton of software and it is all integrated and works beautifully together, not like on Windows.

Did you buy your update for virus scan and system crash and defrag and all that other garbage you need to keep up and running?

in 7 the default come with auto defrag, you will never have to do the defragmentation or even notice when it run. but many pc user will just love find a new tool and do the defragmentation anyway.

what about update or bug fix? mac doesn't do it? google for

Everyone knows Macs are on the up and up and Windows is on its way down. In the mobile OS world, Microsoft just did the equivalent of losing at Russian roulette:

lol yeah! but this isn't about who up and down.

i say it as this news is all about security patch and security issues. microsoft issue 34 patches across its 3 OS. than we got a mac guy come and try to tell mac is not like windows which is a kind of vulnerable for attack and crash.

let see,

2007, Safari for Windows released with Apple's claim that Safari was designed to be "secure from day one", and it took hacker couple of hours to hack the browser (less than a day).

2008, MacBook Air was hack in a contest within 2 minutes

2009 March, another contest, and this time "It took a couple of seconds" to hack a fully patched MacBook computer by the same guy as 2008, Charlie Miller.

MS fanboys like to pretend that potential vulnerabilities in OS X are equal to actual exploited vulnerabilities in Windows. You know, the kind of Windows vulnerabilities that have caused the loss of billions of real $$ because of massive virus infections, crashes, down-time, productivity and so on. Should I tell you about the latest ones just this year? Mac issues are nowhere near in the same terrible category as Windows, it's a universe apart!

OS X viruses do not exist. The OS is almost 10 years old, in all this time no one has yet been able to figure out how to create a successful virus. The rock-solid UNIX foundation of Macs are one reason why they are safer. And that security relative to market share? that's a myth.

By the way, Charlie Miller himself is a Mac user and recommends Macs for users. But you already knew that.

first, i am not MS fanboy

2nd, i don't think it isn't because no one "can" create a virus for mac, but no one "want" to do it. if people really want to do it? we all has see the result already. considerable lame browser like IE or a bad OS like Vista can stand the punch way way longer than whatever Mac can offer.

remember safari called (part of that insult on IE) before it release safari for window? -Safari was designed to be "secure from day one"-

the guy that hack safari for window at the first day the browser released actuary said the claim was

"pathetic"

and what he said next was nail it,

"Everyone has bugs, but not everyone says that they are 'designed to be secured from day one,'" he added. "I guess it's day zero now."

noone attract mac, that can somehow make mac user feel safer, but that doesn't tell mac is really a safer system at all.

Ubuntu Linux is free, updates are secure and continuous. No holes. Works on a PC so you don't have to buy a whole new expensive computer. Try the Live CD version before installing it or even get a free CD/DVD mails to you. It really couldn't be easier. http://www.ubuntu.com

Many other types of Linux out there under different names. All are good. All are more secure than Windows. Try http://distrowatch.com for more information. Find a community you like, then try their OS.

Mac is really missing the boat here, if they could sell their OS to PC users they'd make a killing on the security alone. The all one stop shop though is not increasing their sales percentages. OEM computers would then have more driver software instead of just windows, and that would help everyone including Linux. We don't need Windows any more.
