Siri and google now have both one problem, they are not bilingual, which renders them useless for me...

It's interesting that Microsoft are now giving away their OS after many years of claiming that piracy increases the cost of software.

The truth is, and always has been, that piracy and free alternatives decrease the cost of software as companies like Microsoft are denied a price-gouging monopoly and are forced to be competitive.

Mind you, they will still need some revenue to defend the lawsuits that Apple will bring claiming various patent infringements.

a dollar short and a day late. i don't think MS understands that this "new" feature will do absolutely nothing to increase sales. microsoft has been so "uncool" for the past decade that unless they come up with some revolutionary app, design or feature they will continue to throw money down the drain with window phones.

Cortana? Why would they rename Clippy?

Sadly voice recognition technology is still unreliable.

I love "Siri" and welcome any voice technology. I use "Siri" all the time to write for me rather than typing in the words myself. It's extremely helpful. I even have a deaf boy in my English class and it helps me communicate with him faster by having "Siri" type for me.

And Microsoft once again copies the superior Apple.

Windows peaked with XP (15 years ago) and even that was clunky and unreliable. They've just dropped XP and now are trying to copy every innovation Apple has included to keep their market share. Vista was a failed attempt at copying the OSX interface. Windows8 is a failed attempt at copying iOS. And, does anybody remember the iPod killing Zune? Of course not!

"There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance," said Ballmer. "It's a $500 subsidized item. They may make a lot of money. But if you actually take a look at the 1.3 billion phones that get sold, I'd prefer to have our software in 60% or 70% or 80% of them, than I would to have 2% or 3%, which is what Apple might get."

Oh Steve. You just get it wrong again and again. Apple has mullered you. Plain and simple. Cortana can't help you.

You kind of skipped Windows 7, which is great.
