Hahahaha! Didn't take long for the demands for a new one cause the newest one to date is yet another bomb.

Groan.

OKay if you really have to, but please leave Office the feck alone. Thanks.

Just delaying the inevitable guys.

Windows - Years behind OS X. Even the 'beloved' Windows 7 taskbar was a blatant rip-off of OS X's dock - from pre-2000... Windows Phone - 3+ years behind everyone else. MS make more in royalties from Android than in WP revenue. Surface - Disaster. Failure of a concept in light of abandoning the Courier project. Office - Overpriced junk. In the age of mobile productivity apps such as Evernote, G Docs & Dropbox - Office is losing relevancy fast. Miles behind in cloud syncing for starters.

Dinosaurs, dinosaurs everywhere...

Office - Overpriced junk

True.

Office is losing relevancy fast.

Depends which program and what you use it for.

With all it's faults, Excel is not going to disappear anytime soon. Despite 95% or more users using about 1% of it's functionality.

Other spreadsheet software comes nowhere close. Trust me, I know.

Windows is like Star Trek movies - every other one is good.

Specifically, the ones geared more for business than consumers: WinMe (consumers), WinXP (business), Vista (consumers), Win7 (business), Win8 (consumers).

Surface - Disaster. Failure of a concept in light of abandoning the Courier project.

Surface RT nobody wants. Surface Pro that has Intel Core CPUs, full version of Windows and runs any PC program and peripheral, people want. That's why there's now up to Pro version 3. It's just that it's still too expensive for most people want to pay. Intel just gave out dozens of Pro 3s in contest, and people rejoiced and earnestly competed for 'em. (Meanwhile, other cheaper Win8 Pro tablets like Dell Venue Pro sell pretty well.)

Anyhow, Office is still the most profitable division for Microsoft. Majority buyers are big businesses with thousands of computers. Office won't be going anywhere for awhile:

So true. I'm a Mac guy, but the OSX office suite doesn't compare to the MS office suite. Still way behind.

In short, Microsoft admits that the Modern touchscreen interface used in Windows 8 and 8.1 was too much for many users. Windows 9 essentially goes back to the overlapping window Desktop interface users of Windows 95 to 7 are used to.

Try out a Live-DVD of Linux before upgrading Windows again. The cost of ownership is zero but the benefits are not. It depends though on what your needs are. DistroWatch compares the popular with the specific.

Linux Mint Debian Edition, no rolling upgrades like Mint / Ubuntu.

@Strangerland

From what I've heard M$ have messed with Mac users a great deal. It's disgraceful conduct.

If you can afford it, like the little girl says, "why not (use) both?"

@Raymond

As far as I'm concerned Windows 8 was an undeniable disaster. If their marketing team wants to do new and exciting things, including downright stupid things, at least leave things backward compatible and DO NOT remove functionality because "we didn't think anybody used it".

I've met some of their programmers. Great guys. But told what to do by marketing morons without a clue.

XP was great, anything else is problematic

Heck, Windows 95 was great!

What dont you like about win 8?

I don't like how the charms come out unexpectedly. However, I like how it turns your pc into a computer-tablet hybrid. Macs and old win versions cant do that, and it seems resentment over that is the basis for most of the win 8 criticism.

I've got some really good spectacular apps.
