"Quirky features" my hienie. I love my Japanese cell phone and wouldn't give it up for anything currently being offered in the States, including the iPhone (which won't even allow simple cut-and-paste, for crying out loud). My NEC handset has a ton of feature that I not only use on a regular basis, but also are totally unavailable back home. And my phone costs less than I'd pay for even a basic Motorola handset back home.
